From the Field to Maximo: Why Mobility Matters for Utilities

Informer UX Suite Mobility | IBM Maximo Application Suite | Interloc Informer

The most critical work in utilities doesn’t happen behind a desk. Whether it’s power distribution, wastewater management, gas transmission, or any of the other aspects of utilities management, the most important work is often done out in the field, in places where desks are not part of the landscape. And, to make things more complicated, there is often no reliable internet or network connectivity where these things are happening.

From its earliest days, Interloc’s Mobile Informer was built to deliver Maximo functionality to those users in the field – the ones that are “up on poles and down in holes” and working in remote or isolated environments. With the latest generation of Informer, UX Suite Mobility has taken the lessons we have learned and the feedback we have received to re-imagine Maximo mobility. We have focused on improved user experience, including a redesigned user interface, and blazing-fast offline operation. For users in the field, reliability is not a “nice-to-have” – in fact, it can make the difference between a tool that keeps users working or keeps them from working while they wait.

Interloc has delivered mobile solutions to utilities customers for many years. With each implementation, we’ve learned a little more about what it takes to make Maximo or MAS useful and usable in the field, and if you’re a Maximo or MAS utilities customer looking to provide a world-class, award-winning mobile solution to accelerate your team, we’d love to talk with you.

As luck would have it, we’ve got a good chance coming up, with the MUWG Fall 2026 in Bloomington, Minnesota, from October 12-15. We’ll have the latest version of UX Suite ready to show, and maybe even a few previews of things we’re working on for the next release. We can also tell you about some other exciting things we’re working on beyond mobility, too. The event promises to be a great opportunity to share lessons learned with a wide range of utilities customers and Maximo partners and is always a highlight of our event calendar twice a year.

So, if you’re attending MUWG Fall, stop by the Interloc booth. Meet Chris Springstead, Tina Scott or Lisa Turner and talk with us about your utility’s Maximo environment, your field challenges, and how Interloc Informer can help you get more from Maximo, wherever the work takes you.

See you in Bloomington, October 12–15.
