On-Time, On-Budget Maximo Upgrades.

Stay at the forefront of the industry — our certified Interloc consultants take you every step of the way to your Maximo 7.6 upgrade

Maximo Upgrades

Each Maximo upgrade starts with two things:  a discussion of requirements, and an assessment of the existing Maximo system. Many times, these two steps can be achieved quickly, and sometimes at minimum to no cost. Interloc partners with you to assess your needs and help you determine the best Maximo upgrade path for your business.

And while the end result – an upgraded Maximo system – is easily achieved, Interloc understands that there are multiple components and several different strategies for achieving a successful Maximo upgrade.

Get Started

Requirements Analysis and Process Documentation (As-Is, To-Be)
  • Documentation of existing processes  (as-is process):
Interloc will gather process information from you and provide thorough documentation of processes which may have been previously undocumented in order to aid in upgrading from your current version of Maximo.
  • Adapting processes to Maximo:
When applicable, Interloc will work with you to simplify or modify existing business processes to better fit the Maximo application, often with the goal of maintaining as close to an out-of-the-box system as possible. This helps to reduce future effort in upgrading.
  • Adapting Maximo to processes (Gap Analysis and Options Analysis):
Interloc will help you match desired business processes to functionality in Maximo, defining available options to effectively implement such processes.  Options generally include solutions involving configurations, customizations, and workarounds.
  • Application of best practices to processes:
Interloc will apply industry-specific best practices knowledge to current processes, and recommend areas of process improvement that should be applied in Maximo to more closely align the organization with evolving standards, regulations, and practices.
Technical Upgrade Process

From a broad technical perspective, there are three possible approaches to a Maximo upgrade project:

  • Using the provided IBM Maximo upgrade utilities to run the upgrade
  • Installing the new version of Maximo and manually migrating components from the older system
  • Conducting a re-implementation of Maximo in cases where sizeable gaps between the existing system and the desired to-be system call for a new implementation of Maximo altogether

Interloc will work with you to outline all your options, recommending our best practices approach based on your current Maximo implementation and future goals.

Interloc’s significant experience with different versions of Maximo equips our technical experts with the ability to tackle any challenges — whether functional or technical in nature — that may arise in the implementation of any upgrade to your current Maximo platform.

Business/Functional Upgrade Process

From a functional or business perspective, several different components may apply to your Maximo upgrade, including:

  • Major process redesign as desired by the business
  • Process redesign where warranted by the availability of new functionality or an evolution in best practices
  • Gap analysis necessary to incorporate new Maximo usage areas or desired system modifications

Interloc’s industry experts bring years of business process engineering experience to the table, providing an efficient and organized approach to upgrading your Maximo system to achieve the greatest possible outcome for your organization and specific industry.

User Acceptance Testing

After Interloc has completed system testing, we will hand the system over to you for User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Interloc recommends that you conduct thorough testing of, at a minimum, all components of Maximo that are intended for use.

Interloc recommends that you conduct end-to-end testing that replicates intended Maximo usage procedures, including approval flows and automated generation of records. Interloc remains on-site throughout UAT to provide assistance, answer questions about functionality, provide ad-hoc training, and work through identified issues.

Delta Training

For Maximo upgrades, delta training is often more than adequate for your users.  Delta training is simply instruction that outlines the differences between the two Maximo systems, consisting of demonstration-based overview training with added focus on any areas that include new functionality.

Interloc also provides additional training for Maximo users.
